Big Birthday Weekend

My sweet little Lilly is four!  I am so glad the weekend is over, it was exhausting from beginning to end!
I decorated Lilly's door the morning of her birthday!
Friday evening we let her open present at home before heading to the park for the first of two parties.

The purple chair she is sitting on was one of her presents.  She had a smaller one she got when she turne one, but we got a new cover and gave it to Lucy for her first birthday.  It was a bit of a challenge to get through the month in between the two birthdays with only one chair.

We decided to do separate family and friends parties to avoid having a ridiculous number of people in our house.
The great thing about all of Lilly's friends, is we are also close with their parents.  It was a great time to get together with hometown and college friends who are all in Holton now!
Coming up next, the family party!

Super Girl

Lilly had been talking about going to the pool for days.  When she said she wanted to go off the diving board I really didn't believe her.   Little miss proved me wrong, big time!

Happy Fathers Day

Happy Fathers' Day to all the important dads (and Papas and Grandpas) in my life!

It wouldn't be right leaving Grant out.  He is such a good daddy to Jack!

Midweek Update

This is literally the first time I have opened my computer at home since Sunday night.  I started a new job, which I already love, and AM EXHAUSTED!  It's amazing my kids have actually been fed and bathed before bed.  Anyway, I had some pictures I wanted to share.
As I have mentioned before, Lucy is the complete oposite of Lilly at 1 year.  Lilly was so calm and mild and Lucy is an absolute spit-fire.  Lilly regularly stood at the door to watch John mow the yard (remember this?).  Lucy apparently prefers to climb and look out the window.  Ugg, she is going to her momma and daddy many sleepless nights when she grows up!

I also found a couple more pictures from Lilly's dance recital.
Did I mention she is the youngest in the class.....and somewhat little?   Oh well, as the saying goes, good things come in small packages.

What a Weekend!

This was my last weekend before heading to my new job tomorrow.  It was so nice to have John around!  We made a quick trip to the Auburn pasture to check cattle Saturday morning followed by a rare, all-family trip to the grocery store.  I quickly remembered why I prefer to do the shopping ALONE!
Saturday evening John had to bail alfalfa before the rain came in.  Lilly was excited to go for a ride and was even more excited when I packed a  picnic and told her Kolbi, Ethan, and baby Gavin would be there.  John's college roomie, Ryan, and his wife, Janelle,  moved to town to teach and we love getting the kids together to play.  The kids all get along so well and I know John loves having another KSU buddy around.  I enjoy having another female around that I have a lot in common with!

John said Kolbi taught him about the Little Rascals and capri pants while she road.  Things weren't quite so easy with Ethan, as he tried to do all of the driving!

Lucy even got her first ride!

Lilly was so proud to share her daddy and tractors with her friends.  She even knew they were bailing "alf-alf-a!"  I think we may have a farm girl in the making!

Little Grass Shack

Lilly's first dance recital is over, and thank goodness Hanna was here to help me!  It was kinda special because Hanna's first recital was also a hula dance!

Lilly and Zoe are two of the three youngest kiddos in the class.  They look so tiny next to the ones going on to kindergarten in the fall.  Kolbi, the tallest one, is the daughter of one of John's college roomies.  I love that these girls have only really know each other for a year, but are already buddies!  Lilly's class was so special because we knew so many of the girls!
Every parent wants their child to get up there and perform, and Lilly did just that, with one small hitch. On the way out, she got mixed in with the front row instead of the back row, where she is supposed to stand.  I was in a near panic because I could tell she knew she was not in the right place.  She looked around, while dancing, and got over it.  I guess she thought she needed to be seen, and the front row was the place for her!

We practiced and practiced the booty shakin part over and over.  Lilly actually told me her legs weren't long enough to make her bottom wiggle!
It was such a cute dance and overall great recital.  Lilly was so proud of herself and excited so many people came to watch her dance.  She carried the flowers her daddy gave her with her head held high (never mind I am the one who got the flowers, leave it to her dad to steal the credit!).
The three amigos all did great and hopefully will dance together for many years to come.
I think it is safe to say they have come a long way since last summer!
