Corrupted by Crazies

We also had a chance to visit lots of other family members at my Papa's house. Lilly had a great time and had a couple other firsts. My crazy aunts thought it would be a good idea to fill her up on sugar. She ate her first smore with Papa Dot.After every bite, Lilly said "Yummmm!" If she is anything like her momma she will have quite the sweet tooth.!
My Aunt Deanna thought it was pay back time. Apparently my mother was the first one to feed Deanna's kids chocolate, so Deanna thought it would be nice to feed Lilly a powdered sugar doughnut. Lilly ate the whole thing! It's not wonder Lilly didn't have her evening nap.

My grandpa is quite the artist. In the past he has done lots of carving and wood crafts but has started something new.

He made both of these from railroad spikes!

Lilly's First Trip to the Zoo!

We went to Great Bend over the holiday weekend to visit Nana and Papa Shirk. We took Lilly on her first visit to the zoo!
This guy was the first animal we saw. Nana Bobbi was nice enough to point out his blue balls. Bright bright blue balls. Sorry I couldn't get a piture of them for reference.
The cockatoo tried to make friends with Papa Layne in the visitors visitors center.
The peacocks really liked Lilly and decided to strut for her.

Nana Bobbi tried to feed Lilly to the ducks.

Lilly like the big kitties the best.

She waved to every one of them!

Let the Summer Begin!

Lilly loves the water. She loves her bath and splashing in the kitchen sink when she gets her hands and face washed. I am so happy she likes the pool too!

Checking out the new toys, that are actually for the bathtub.
Lots of splashing. She didn't even mind getting her face wet!
After about 30 minutes, Lilly decided it was more fun to climb in and out of pool than it was to play in the water! Oh well at least I got a start on my summer tan!On a side note, Lilly has outgrown almost all of her 9 month jammies. Who knew that they don't make 12 month jammies with short sleeves and no feet. We are switching over to two piece jammies. It makes me nervous that she is going to get tangled up in the t-shirt or that her little feet are going to the cold. She wore her new pair last night and seemed to do fine. Here she is giving her orange man a hug and a pat-pat before heading to bed.

Garden Helper

John and I spent lots of time this weekend working on the flower and vegetable gardens. Luckily we had Lilly around to help!

Who needs pretty flowers when you have lots of mulch to play in!
Still playing in the mulch.....
Never mind the mulch and the flowers. Lets just play with the grass clippings on the ground!

Yum!

Lilly was a super big help in the kitchen today. She got to help mommy stir the brownie mix. Somehow she even knew that you had to sample the batter!

It's Summer!

In honor of the beginning of summer vacation, the sun decided to come out today. It was a beautiful 85 degrees! Lilly and I played outside and around town most of the afternoon. We hit the local park for a ride in the swings and many many trips down the slides. It was a great opportunity for me to try out my new camera! We also stopped by a friends house for a ride in her swing. Man I wish we had a good tree to hang a swing from! All of the good trees are down by the pond, way to far from the house.
Lilly loved the big slides. She likes the little one we have at home but can't really do much on it because it is only a couple feet tall.
She really enjoyed climbing up on her own and then sliding down on her tummy!

Took a little break to sample some dirt and rocks.Lilly was in charge of carrying our water bottle when we went for our walk.

Next time we might have to find her a different job!

Outside Time

Thank goodness it is warming up. Lilly loves playing outside. She watches the cats, waves at the dog, and climbs and slides on her little jungle gym.

She isn't big enough to "drive" her car but sure enjoys pushing it around.

The Brightest Part of a Bad Day

I won't go into details about my day, but shortly after the storm this evening, we saw this. The brightest, full, DOUBLE rainbow I have ever seen.

It was absolutely amazing!

Two rainbows. Complete from one end to the other. Shining through dark scary skies!

The only thing more beautiful was Lilly taking three, then four, then five steps across the living room!

Happy Mother's Day/Baptism/Bridal Shower Weekend

Lilly, John, and I had the pleasure of going to Great Bend for Mother's Day weekend. We were busy with a bridal shower for Hanna, Avery's baptism, and lots of mom's awesome cooking (always a reason to go home).
Here is Hanna and some of her closest friends from grade school. She is so lucky to still be close to so many of her home town friends. Two of the gals helped throw the shower along with some family members. Probably don't need to mention that we (they) went through an entire case of champagne.

Avery's baptism was at the newly remodeled St. Rose Church. The baptismal font was beautiful!

Lilly even got some quality time with Papa Dot. He isn't quite as bad an influence as it may appear!

And as always, Lilly bonded with her buddy Avery. She likes to "pat-pat" like Nana Bobbi taught her on the baby!
