8 Months

Baby Lucy just keeps getting bigger and bigger.  We hit 8 months and I honestly feel like there is no "baby" left to her!  She is so mobile and involved in everything!
At 8 months, Lu:
Weighs 18lbs plus a little (can't remember the exact number, but it was pretty much the same as 7 months
Eats everything put in front of her.  She has had homemade pears, butternut squash, spaghetti squash, bananas, sweet potatoes, and spinach.  Next up: peaches and avocado.
Crawls like a woman on a mission.  She has also started cruising along the furniture.  Baby gate is officially in use.
Loves loves loves her kitty.  She gets so mad when I make him go outside.
Has hit that stage where she wants everything she can get her hands on.  She empties my school bag, tries to get into the kitchen trash, opens cabinets, and is all over her sister.  Lilly handles it well for the most part, until Lu gets her hair.
And is, for the most part, a very happy baby.  She has been known to have major meltdowns when she has to wait for her food though.

Lucy also has her own favorite hideout.  She loves to crawl under the desk and bang on the canister that I have stashed under there.

Yummy in the Tummy

Just like I did with Lilly, I am making all of Lucy's baby foods.  The thought of all the junk that goes into purees and the cost per serving just really gets me.  I made 46 servings of pears for about $5.00 (about $.11 per serving).  The same for the store bought kind would cost anywhere from $23 ($.50 per serving) for Gerber to $46 ($1.00) for the organic stuff.  Craziness!
I just bake (if needed), puree, dump into ice trays, and freeze.  They pop out in 1 ounce servings and go back into the freezer until we need them.  So far we have done sweet potatoes, butternut squash, pears  (pictured above), and some amazing looking spinach.  Seriously, when mixed with breast milk and pureed, the spinach is a really pretty color!

Whole Bunch of Nothin'

There hasn't been much of anything going on around the Stous House these days.  The girls are keeping us busy as usual and John is right smack in the middle of high school basketball season.  This, of course, is tournament  week meaning he refs Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday!  Hello sandwiches for dinner!  That is the good thing about him being gone, we eat easy food!

Have I mentioned how much Lucy adores her sister?  Her world is perfect as long as she can see Lilly!

Lucy can be a bit of a bum, but really likes feeding herself!  Look comfy?  Don't worry, she isn't laying flat, no fluid to her ears! Just loungin' on Lilly's chair.
Cheering on her favorite basketball team.  This little lady helped that Cats beat WV and their lame coach!

Snow Babies

Lucy

Lilly

First Snow

On my last day of Christmas vacation, we spent some quality time in the snow!
John pulled Lilly around the yard on the sled she got last Christmas, but never got the chance to use.  For some reason she enjoyed pulling the empty sled around more than riding on it!
Baby Lu was less than impressed when she got a far full of snow.  We tried to get Lilly to hold her and  pull then both on the sled.  Didn't work so well.

Lilly woke up this morning asking to go out and make snow angels.
 Perfect!
