Happy Birthday Lucy

Sweet Baby Lucy is no longer a baby!  Last Sunday we celebrated with John's parents, my parents and the Moos family, as well as lots of Holton friends.  Hanna and Grant even joined in via Facetime when we sang happy birthday!

It was my first time making modeling chocolate for the cake.  I was fairly happy with the outcome and it tasted much better than the fondant I usually make.

 

 

This little lady never ceases to amaze us.  She has grown so much over the past year and has really come out of Lilly's shadow.  She may not have as much to say as Lilly did at this age, but constantly has us giggling.  Her actual birthday was Monday and she was having an especially challenging bedtime.  She final told me she didn't want to go to sleep because then her birthday would be over!  Such as smarty pants!

 

Goodbye April

We have been unbelievably busy this month.  We work on the new house pretty much  every spare moment we get, chase the kids, go to work, and do it all again the next day.  Our goal is still to be finished with the house by the end of the summer.  

On a different page, the two baby critters are getting big!  They were born four weeks ago and all white.  They are going to be beautiful siamese just like their momma.

Busy Two Weeks

Sweet Baby Lucy had her tonsils and adenoids out as well as some tissue in her nose reduced.  She is overall very healthy, but does not sleep.  There were nights over the past few months that I was up with her every 45 minutes.  It wasn't every night, but happened enough they diagnosed her with obstructive sleep apnea.  

She did so well the day of the surgery, and has done fairly well since. 

She made so many new nurse friends.  One told her she was the only two year old who she had ever heard speak in such complete sentences.  

The whole surgery lasted right at an hour.  I was so proud of Lucy as she was awake when they wheeled her away and she never even thought about getting upset.   She even reached out of her bed and pushed the button to open the operating room door.  She took her time waking up, which we were told was a good thing.

We had told her over and over she could have ice cream when she woke up and she knew exactly when she wanted.  She polished off a whole popsicle and cup of ice before we were discharged. 

 The past few days at home have been rough and poor John slept two nights on the couch so Lucy could be with me.  She hasn't eaten hardly anything and we had to set a timer just to get her drinking her water.  She is slowly beginning to eat more.  Good thing Nana Bobbi came to town to help!

Last weekend John and I went to Denver for our anniversary and to ski with Grant and Hanna.  The weather was perfect with 9 inches of fresh powder for me to get stuck in at Vail.

Little Update

This winter has been busy as ever for the four of us.  Progress continues at the new house.  The addition is fully closed in and the perimeter walls are studded in.  Hopefully the interior walls go up today.  So far, the addition is coming together exactly as planned. 

 

John and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary.  It's hard to believe we have been married that long!  Even crazier to think we have know each other 15 years!

 

We went to Manhattan for a men's basketball game over the weekend.  Lucy was so excited to meet Willy.  She might look a bit afraid, but that's just her awkward smile :)

Lucy even came home and told Won about meeting Willy.

Lilly participated in the annual dance and cheer camp with the Holton High School cheer squad.  She was so stinkin cute!  She said her bow and blue shoes were her favorite part. 

 

We also got our annual Valentine's pics of the girls.  I am so happy with them!  I had to take screenshot of the proof just to share it :)

New House Progress

 Oh so slowly we are making progress on the new house.  John and I spent about 4 hours over there on Sunday, in the wind and rain, getting one step closer to the addition starting.  We worked on cutting the bottom 10 inches of stucco out so the new floor joists can butt up to the existing frame.  You can see it in the back of this picture.  This porch, with the addition, will eventually be out master bedroom. 

Out back the footings are poured and we worked on cutting stucco out here as well.

 Lilly's room is done with the exception of the closet doors and cleaning up the wood floors. 

 Lucy's room is getting closer.  I need to get at least 2 coats on her trim and paint the closet doors as well.  Both kids rooms need the ceiling fans installed and all of the outlets changed out. 

 

My kitchen pantry is framed and dry walled!  The pocket door is painted and hung too!



Free time to work on the house is something John and I have very little of.  We continue to do as much as we can on our own, with the help of my parents.  We are hopeful we can get it wrapped up in the next four months!
